Virgin Atlantic Airlines is a British airline, founded in 1984 by Sir Richard Branson. The airline flies long-haul with Boeing 747-400, Airbus A340, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A330 and Airbus A350. Virgin Atlantic uses Gatwick Airport as a base for flights to traditional vacation destinations such as the Caribbean, Mauritius, Orlando and Las Vegas. Boeing 747s are used for all Gatwick flights and even Manchester flights. From Manchester, Virgin Atlantic flies to Orlando (both non-stop and via Glasgow) and the Caribbean. The main base for Virgin Atlantic is London-Heathrow Airport where all of the company’s A340s belong. From here, the company regularly flies to New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Shanghai, Sydney, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Nairobi.
