Sudan Airways

Sudan Airways is an airline from Sudan,

and it was founded in 1947 by Sudan

Railways, to improve communications to those

parts of the country where there were no

rail lines.

It is one of the oldest Air companies in Africa.

An Air Advisory Board was formed in 1945

to assess on the feasibility of starting air

services in the country, recommending to set

up an air company with the aid of foreign carriers

that would provide their technical and management

expertise.

The first fleet consisted of four de Havilland Doves.

In 1952 the company bought its first DC-3 and increased

the number of aircraft to seven.

The companies head office is in Khartoum.

In 2017, it was announced that the Sudanese

President signed several cooperation agreements

with the King of Saudi Arabia during a visit

to Riyadh.

Among the agreements was a pledge from

the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation

to restructure SAR22.5 million riyals (US$6 million)

worth of debt.

In addition,

provisions for fleet renewal at Sudan Airways were

It was reported Saudi Arabia may equip the Sudan
