Belavia Belarusian Airlines
Belavia is Belarus’s state-owned airline. Belavia links Belarus with certain European cities
and destinations in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). There are also some
destinations in the Middle East. The base is Minsk International Airport. The airline has
more than 1,000 employees. In the past six years, the airline passenger number has doubled
and in 2009 700,000 passengers were handled.
To the Nordic countries, Belavia operates the Minsk – Stockholm-Arlanda and Minsk –
Helsinki-Vantaa routes. The Belavia fleet consists mostly of newer western short- to medium-
distance planes, which have replaced the aging Tupolev fleet (Tu134 / Tu154) that previously
formed the body of the fleet. In some charter destinations, Tu-154 can still be used. The airline
also flies Bombardier CRJ on routes with smoother traffic and regionally.
The fleet also includes Boeing 737-BBJ2 and Challenger 850, which is used as a government plan.
