Air Serbia
Air Serbia is the national airline. The airline was previously known by the name Jat Airways
but flies with its new name since October 2013.The airline was founded in 1927 in what
was then Yugoslavia under the name Aeroput and has also been named JAT Yugoslav Airlines.
The Serbian government and Etihad Airways agreed in August 2013 that Etihad Airways
would take over 49% of Jat Airways. The Serbian state remains the majority owner.
In connection with the agreement, Jat Airways was reorganized, a modernization of the fleet
was started and the company changed its name to Air Serbia. The first flight under the new name
was conducted between Belgrade in Serbia and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where
Etihad Airways has its flight hub.
